Mark Howard was the Chief Executive Officer of the Victorian Athletic League for almost eight years and has over 10 years experience working with sporting organisations all over Australia. Mark is the founder and director of Sport Consultants Australia. Mark also has personal business interests in the sport and health industry and is an athletics coach and committee member at his local athletics club.

During his professional career, Mark has sourced and overseen government grants and sponsorship ranging from $500 - $250,000. He has had experience dealing with corporate sponsors as well as local, state and federal government departments. He has worked with hundreds of different sporting committees and marketing companies in Australia and New Zealand. Mark has successfully negotiated major government grant and sponsorship deals with a number of large companies and local, state and federal government agencies. Mark has worked with a number of sporting clubs to develop strategic plans and has worked with government agencies on numerous tenders. He also has experience in the racing industry as the deputy registrar of the Racing & Disciplinary Board for over 5 years.

Mark has developed strategies to assist every sporting organisation, no matter how big or small, to increase your chances of funding through government grants and sponsorship revenue, expand your membership database and create an innovative brand awareness of your organisation

Lucille James has vast experience both working within the corporate and sporting sector. This has provided her with a first rate ability to solve, structure and deliver optimal business solutions to her clients.

As a senior executive in a variety of industries such as publishing (newspapers and magazines), property development and corporate advisory, she has worked with majors including Australia Post, Colorpak and Mondelez (Kraft/Cadbury). Lucille has overseen corporate, local council, state government and federal government grant funding, advertising and sponsorship on a number of major projects.

From a sporting perspective Lucille has worked on major events such as Commonwealth Games, World Swimming Championships, Deaflympics, Pacific School Games as well as state and national events in several disciplines. In her spare time Lucille participates in state, national and international competitions.



Mike Rennie - as an administrator, coach, and athlete - has extensive experience in club management, sport development and strategy, and relationship building across a wide range of sports from amateur to elite levels.

In administration Mike has served on the State Executive Committee of Victorian Masters Athletics, been the Development Manager, Digital Services Manager and Social Media and Marketing Manager for State and Club levels, and has experience in a wide range of sporting club roles including Teams Manager, Secretary, Registrar, Uniforms Officer and General Committee member.

Spending the last fifteen years as a professional in the sports industry, he has been involved in coaching various sports for over twenty-two years, and longer again as an athlete. A qualified and practising Sport Scientist, Strength and Conditioning Coach and Coach in Athletics, Cycling (Road and Track), Triathlon, Weightlifting and Powerlifting, Mike has worked with people from absolute beginners to State and National champions, Olympians and masters World Record holders, incorporating ages from young children to elite masters athletes in their late seventies. He has formerly coached Football (Soccer) and Martial Arts and has worked with athletes from a wide range of backgrounds including Basketball, Football (Australian Rules), Football (Soccer), Ice Hockey, K1 Paddling, and Super-G and Down Hill Ski racing, amongst many others. An active CFA member, Mike has former military experience and has trained people from the defence, law enforcement and emergency services.

No matter the size of your club or sport, Mike has the experience to understand your needs on all three key levels as athlete, administrator and coach and will work with you to develop a strong strategic plan to grow and expand your member base and external opportunities.



Oliver Adams is the junior marketing consultant for Sport Consultants Australia. Oliver studied at Yarra Valley Grammar; he successfully completed Business Management and Legal Studies, Oliver is also a keen AFL footballer having played for the Eastern Rangers in the TAC Cup.



SCA Administration

Eva Howard is the SCA administrator. She will be your first point of call and contact for any initial queries you have in relation to our services.

Eva has a Diploma in Business from RMIT, and a professional background as a librarian working at several different places, including the Catholic Education Office in Melbourne and schools, for over 12 years, so she is an extremely organised person.
